Hyderabad: Faulty sugar reading leaves woman critical
Hyderabad: A woman approached Saifabad police against medical negligence at Vasvi hospital. 32-year-old Asiya Begum’s condition turned critical after a faulty glucometer read her sugar level wrong and a doctor gave her insulin. Police have started an investigation against Dr. Mohammed Mudassir.
Asiya’s sister Afreen Begum, who lodged the complaint, alleged that the doctors were extremely rude when they inquired about the meter. “We brought Asia here on July 19 after she kept on falling unconscious in the house. The doctor said that her sugar levels were fluctuating and that lead to the condition. For three days, they kept on reading her sugar with the faulty machine and gave her insulin. Now her health has deteriorated,” said Afreen.
“When another doctor came and checked, he established that the glucometer was faulty,” she added. After management refused to take her complaint, Afreen went to police station and lodged the complaint.
