Bengaluru: In 18 months, fly' over Sony Signal
Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday laid the foundation stone for the much-delayed four-lane elevated corridor between Ejipura and Kendriya Sadan in Koramangala.
He said that the Congress government is for the people and that the public want good road infrastructure. “People do not like wasting their precious time getting stuck in traffic on roads. We have been investing crores of rupees to improve the city's infrastructure" he said.
"The elevated corridor will be of great help to those travelling on the Intermediate ring Ring Road. The flyover will be built at a cost of Rs 204 crore and will be thrown open in 18 months."
No compromise on green cover
The development of the city doesn't imply that government is compromising on the city's green cover, he said, referring to Sunday’s human chain to oppose the construction of a steel bridge at Shivananda Circle. “People have a misconception that we are compromising on the green cover and are focussing only on infrastructure. It isn't true. They just argue that we just cut down trees forgetting that infrastructure and greenery should go hand in hand."
He said that the government is planning to construct steel bridges at Shivananda Circle and between Minerva Circle and Hudson Circle. He said, “There are advanced technologies to relocate trees. Even if tree translocation fails, we can plant more saplings.”
White topped roads in BTM
At a cost of Rs 545 crore, asphalting of 300 km of roads and 458 developmental works will be taken up at the BTM Layout assembly constituency.
Houses for SCs and STs
320 houses will be constructed for SCs, while 120 houses will be set up for STs in the constituency.
Focus on Madiwala
Special focus has been laid on Madiwala with the construction of shops for merchants and traders in Madiwala market at a cost of Rs 21 crore. Lake development will be taken up at a cost of Rs 25 crore.
To ease traffic
- The flyover will bypass three major bottlenecks – Ejipura main road, Intermediate Ring Road junction, Sony Signal junction and Kendriya Sadan junction.
- Project cost is Rs 204 crore and will cover a total area of 50,000 square feet.
- It is said to reduce travel time by 30 minutes during peak hours.
