Will protect Mansoor if he returns: SIT

Mr Gowda told reporters that the SIT has taken Mansoor Khan’s video seriously.

Bengaluru: Responding to a video released by the absconding managing director of I Monetory Advisory (IMA), Mohammad Mansoor Khan, who offered to surrender but feared for his life as 'big names' are involved in the business, chief of Special Investi gation Team (SIT) Dr B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda said that Mansoor Khan and his family will be given full security.

The statement came on Monday, a day after Mansoor Khan released an 18-minute video from an undisclosed location naming a few politicians, businessmen and moulvis for IMA's muddle. He claimed that he would submit more such big names involved in the IMA business.

Mr Gowda told reporters that the SIT has taken Mansoor Khan’s video seriously. “All the points mentioned in the video will be probed and if there is any truth in it, the police will take action against those people," he said.

He said that the police will make all necessary security arrangements for Mansoor and his family if he wants to return to India and appear before the investigating agency and cooperate with the probe.

On the names mentioned in the video, Mr Gowda said that the team is investigating the case and will serve notices to them if any evidence is found.

Mansoor Khan is absconding since June 7 and is believed to be hiding in Dubai after cheating over 50,000 investors of over Rs 2,000 crore.

In the video, he accused IMA's board of directors of theft and financial fraud. “There was 120 kg of solid jewellery and 600 kg bullion in the vault and I have received information that most of it has been moved from the vault by directors Nizammuddin Azeemuddin, Mohammad Wasim (Mansoor's cousin), Khalid Ahmad (construction worker for IMA) his son Fahad Ahmad, along with the help of other staff members," he said.

Mansoor Khan claimed that another director Naveed Ahmed was involved in a financial fraud.

Meanwhile, all the 12 directors, including those Mansoor accused of theft, are in police custody and are being interrogated.

Mansoor Khan alleged in the video that former Rajya Sabha member K. Rahman Khan, Congress worker Mohammad Obaidullah Sharief, MLC Sarvananju, an Urdu newspaper editor Khaliq Ahmad, Mukhtar Ahmad, who was booked under TADA, Fairoze Abdullah of Fairoze Estate, Saif of Zaid Chit Funds, Mufti Iftikhar Ahmad Qasmi, Mufti Shamshuddin Bijli and Moulana Zainul Abideen, were involved in “financial settlements” and have swindled public money.
