Vastavya drama: Producer CM, cost Rs 1cr! says BS Yeddyurappa
Bengaluru: Once again targeting Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for re-launching his 'Grama Vastavya' programme or village stays, state BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa claimed on Monday that the state government had spent around a crore on his overnight halt at Chandriki village in Yadgir district last week.
The BJP leader, who released a booklet “Mukyamantri Grama Vastavya Drama!” here, deplored that when lakhs of people had left drought-hit districts to make a living in other states, the Chief Minister was spending crores on his village outreach “drama”.
“The Raichur district administration is spending around Rs 1 crore on the CM’s night stay in Karegudda village on Wednesday. Mr Kumaraswamy has created a record by running the government from a five star hotel,” he charged. Mr Yeddyurappa alleged that the Chief Minister's “five star culture” had left him no time over the last year to focus on the problems of rural Karnataka. “In 2006-07, the Chief Minister stayed overnight in 42 villages and made hundreds of promises, but none of them have been fulfilled even after 12 years,” he claimed.
The BJP chief went on to read a 10 point questionnaire to Mr Kumaraswamy, which included queries like, “What do you have to say to the 1,500 farmers who committed suicide during your 13 month stay in a five star hotel?” and “Why should people believe the government when you have failed to keep your promise of waiving crop loans in one shot within 24 hours of coming to power?”
He also wanted to know if Mr Kumaraswamy had the guts to take action against Congress MLAs, Zameer Ahmed Khan and R Roshan Baig who allegedly had links with IMA founder, Mansur Ahmed and the how much “kickback” was received for proposing the outright sale of 3336 acres of land to the Jindal Steel Company in Ballari.
