CHENNAI: BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy, well-known for his controversial remarks and expressing views contradicting the party’s stand, is likely to invoke the ire of the Tamil ‘superstar’ fans. He stoked a fresh controversy by saying Rajinikanth is an “illiterate and unfit for politics”. He also called the actor, who recently announced to take a plunge in politics, as “Shree 420.”
The BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP who took to his micro blogging site Twitter to vent his feelings against the actor, tweeted “illiteracy of RK is that even his famous cinema monologue is scripted by someone else behind the cameras.” In another tweet, Subramanian Swamy said on Saturday, “One cannot compare Kamaraj’s illiteracy with RK 420. Kamaraj worked his way from political worker to CM and implemented education revolution.” A day ago, he tweeted, “Rajinikant will be another Shree 420 like the Delhiwala.”
Swamy's outbursts against Rajinikanth follows speculations that the Tamil 'superstar' will make his political debut soon. The actor is most sought after by the BJP. While the Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP gave him an open invitation to join the party, BJP national chief Amit Shah had said that the BJP's doors are open for Rajini. In May this year in his tweet, Subramanian Swamy had said, “This is like my Porki remark about Elis extended to all Tamils. Rajinikant is siding with DK. They will not accept him as a Tamil.”
Subramanian Swamy told a news agency that Rajinikanth had “committed a financial fraud” and that the actor is an “illiterate” and “unfit for politics.” “Rajinikanth's famous dialogue is 'If I say it once, it is equivalent to saying it hundred times' (Naan oru thadava sonna, nooru thadava sonna madhiri). If he comes there will be many things that will tumble out which will be harmful to him. I would advise him not to come [to politics],” Swamy told India Today. Earlier, party ideologue S. Gurumurthy contending that Rajinikanth would form his own party, said the actor would not join the BJP, as the “party hierarchy is not big enough to accommodate him.”
