Infosys: NR Narayana Murthy a no-show at AGM

Bengaluru: Infosys' founder NR Narayana Murthy and nearly all the co-founders have for the first time, stayed away from the IT bellwether's Annual General Meeting, the 36th AGM for 2016-17 that was held in Bengaluru on Saturday.

"None of the founders or promoters were at the AGM, even an hour after it began at 3 p.m. We have no idea why they did not turn up," a company spokesman said.

Apart from Murthy, the other co-founders of the country's second-largest software export firm including Aadhaar creator Nandan Nilekani, S Gopalakrishnan, SD Shibulal, K Dinesh, NS Raghavan and Ashok Arora also stayed away.

Board Chairman S Seshasayee, Co-Chairman Ravi Venkatesan, CEO and Managing Director Vishal Sikka, Chief Operating Officer UB Pravin Rao and Independent Directors Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, DN Prahlad, Roopa Kudva, Punit Kumar-Sinha and John W Etchemendy were all in attendance.

"Independent Director, Jefferey S. Lehman from the US could not make it to the meeting due to unforseen circumstances," said the spokesman.

Mr. Murthy who officially retired for the second time in 2014, would normally occupy the front row at the AGMS, alongside former directors T.V Mohandas Pai and V. Balakrishnan.
