Nellore: Union minister for municipal administration M. Venkaiah Naidu has underlined the need for change in the entire education system from grassroots level to suit the present day society and called for cooperation and participation to bring in a change. He was participating in the distribution of the 'Pratibha Puraskar' (merit certificates) to outstanding students during a function jointly organised by Swarna Bharat Trust and Muppavarapu Foundation at Venkatachalam near Nellore on Friday.
He gave away the merit certificates, shields besides a cash award of Rs 3,000 to the students of Class X in the government residential, high schools and municipal schools in the district, along with the Union minister for electricity Piyush Goel. Speaking on the occasion, Venkaiah Naidu stressed the need to distance from the slavery education introduced by the Britishers. He said that the Central government has already started concentrating on the reforms with emphasis on moral values and scientific outlook.
Stating that there is no dearth of knowledgeable persons and intellectuals in India, he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to make the country the most powerful nation in the world and prevailing upon the central ministers to achieve the goal. Mr Naidu opined that every Indian should keep in mind that the country has the capacity to transform as a powerful nation. Every Indian should feel proud that the culture and tradition in India are great. All the students should move forward and tread the path of great leaders of our country.
Parents should get their children educated without looking about the financial constraints. He further reminded that the goal of education should not be an employment and everyone should make use of their knowledge and start self-employment practices.
