Hyderabad: As construction of multi-grade flyovers at KBR Park will take years, the only solution to traffic woes is making the road one-way. Hyderabad mayor B. Rammohan said the unending complaints by commuters had led to the one-way system.
The first free left will be at the Jubilee check-post for commuters to take the one-way at KBR Park, coming from Film Nagar towards Madhapur, the mayor said, adding that a trial run would be taken up next week. The mayor told DC, “The KBR junction is witnessing massive jams. The government has already proposed multi-grade separators as part of the Strategic Road Development Plan. The one-way is the only solution, so far. In Bengaluru and Delhi, though they have 100 flyovers and under-passes, the Corporations have enforced one-ways for almost 10-15 km. GHMC and traffic department are yet to study the methods to implement this, which includes spots for dividers. Traffic officials have agreed, there is no other way.”
He added that GHMC had made arrangement for the one-way including completion of works worth Rs 1.7 to 2 crore at Film Nagar, leading to Shaikpet. Secondly, the bottleneck at Road number 45, passing the Art Gallery, to Kavuri Hills has been cleared; A U-turn at Sagar Society has been closed.
