Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has ordered that the schools be reopened on June 12 instead of June 1 in view of the heatwave conditions prevailing across the state.
The government issued a memorandum to this effect on Friday to the commissioner of school education. The instruction is applicable to all private and government schools.
The date extension request was made by child activists earlier also. They had submitted a representation to education minster as well.
However, they allege that some private schools are planning to reopen schools in advance.
