Seven new zones for more jobs in Telangana

Specific percentage of jobs to be reserved for locals.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to create seven zones and two multi-zones to ensure government jobs for locals as part of the new zoning system to be implemented in Telangana. At present, Telangana has only two zones covering the 10 old districts of Undivided Andhra Pradesh. The new zoning system was necessitated by the bifurcation of AP and formation of TS besides reorganising 10 districts in Telangana into 31 in October 2016.

Announcing this at a review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan on Thursday, Mr Rao said that the new zoning system will benefit employees as well as ensure that the injustices seen in undivided AP are not repeated. In each zone, a specific percentage of jobs will be reserved for locals of that zone. The percentage will be determined later.
