Hyderabad: Advertisement flexi falls on electric wires, Metro halted for 30 minutes
Hyderabad: Metro Rail travel was disrupted for about half an hour on the Ameerpet-Miyapur section on Thursday when an advertisement flexi banner fell on the overhead electric wires.
Strong winds dislodged the banner which landed on the wires at JNTU-Kukatpally, causing disruption of service from 5.35 pm to 6.05 pm. Officials said the wind was measured at 78 km per hour.
This is second time this month that Metro Rail services were halted due to advertisement banners falling on power cables. Train services were stopped on May 2 for a similar reason between Ameerpet and Nagole.
Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director N.V.S. Reddy said, “There was a 30-minute disruption to services as the flex fell on the OHE (Overhead Equipment). The maintenance staff removed the flex following due process during the rain and lightning.”
