Get ready for GHMC internship
Hyderabad: The GHMC is gearing up to offer a year-round internship programme for citizens. Instead of sporadic clean-up activities by I-T companies and volunteer organisations, any individual or group who work for 100 hours will be given a certificate of accomplishment.
Volunteers who perform clean-up activities at different places have been seeking certificates from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation which will help them in getting promotions and co-circulars.
Given the demand, the GHMC decided to create structured activity and sought 100 hours of volunteering for Swacch Bharat activity. Interns can participate individually or in teams with a maximum size of 10.
The GHMC has a defined set of activities including information awareness campaigns, solid waste management and sanitation activities. A group of volunteers would be allotted to a specific area under the supervision of the deputy commissioner of the area.
While it is open for all age groups and organisations, this activity will take place across all the GHMC circles, The details will be made available on the GHMC website. The activity can be done over the weekends across the year. The volunteers will be certified by the Centre and the GHMC under the Swacch Bharat Mission.
“We will open the enrolment window on our website soon for volunteers. We will be dividing it circle wise, and volunteers can work within their own circle which will ease their commute. People can do it as a weekend activity”, said Serilingampally zonal commissioner Harichandana Dasari.
