Bengaluru: CBSE students fall prey to rumours

CBSE sources, however, said that the board is expected to take one or two more days to finalise the result sheets.

Bengaluru: There seems to be no end to rumours and confusion over the announcement of results of different examinations. Last week, thousands of ICSE and ISC students had a torrid time after rumours floated that the results had been announced, when they were not. On Wednesday, it was the turn of CBSE Standard XII students to be at the receiving end.

On Tuesday evening, a section of the media reported that the CBSE class XII results would be announced on Wednesday. The students and parents, anxious as it is over the results, waited the entire day, but the results were not put up on the official CBSE website. The board officials refused to take responsibility, saying they had made no announcement.

CBSE sources, however, said that the board is expected to take one or two more days to finalise the result sheets. “On Wednesday, top CBSE officials held marathon meetings with Human Resource Development Ministry officials. Union HRD Minister Prakash Javedkar too attended one of them. Students will be alerted officially about the results a day in advance. It is unfortunate that the students are falling prey to such rumours," said a CBSE officer.

In Bengaluru on Wednesday, hundreds of CBSE students rushed to their schools to look for their results. The principal of a Central Board of Secondary Education school blamed board officials for such repeated incidents. “They should have issued some clarification on the official website, and avoided the confusion,” he said.

Several school principals confirmed to Deccan Chronicle that the CBSE has not sent any communication on the result dates. "Students and

parents flooded us with calls, but we were in no position to help, as we did not have any information,” said another principal.

The students and parents alleged that CBSE officials did not give them concrete information. “I called the CBSE office twice today, but they did not connect me to the section concerned. The Central Board of Secondary Education Twitter account too has been inactive," said Ms Sarojia Bhat, whose daughter has appeared for the Class XII exam this year.
