Karnataka PU results today, CID yet to submit report on leak

The State PU Department will announce the II PUC Final Examination results by 11 am.

Bengaluru: The CID's inability to complete the investigation into the II PUC final examination question paper leak scam came as a relief to students, who had allegedly benefited by the leak. According to PU Department sources, with the CID yet to submit the investigation report, it had decided to release the results of all the students, including those who had allegedly benefited by the paper leak.

Background: The State Pre-University Education department conducted the II PUC final examination between March 18 and 31. The Chemistry examination was postponed twice following reports that the question papers were leaked in advance. The State government had ordered a CID investigation into the scam.

According to sources, around 60 to 70 students, mostly children of powerful businessmen and officials had received the question papers beforehand. The CID is yet to name those students.

The PU department is now announcing the II PUC final examination results on Wednesday. But it has decided to go ahead and announce the results of all the students as the CID is yet to submit the investigation report.

"We can withdraw the marks card of any student found guilty of malpractice at any time, even after announcing the results. We will take a decision once the CID submits its report” said Ramegowda, Director, PU department.

An officer from the PU department told this newspaper that getting access to the question paper prior to the examination by paying money is equal to examination malpractice. "The CID is aware of the customers of the question paper leak kingpin. Students are equally responsible for this scam. So the CID and the state government must act immediately and cancel the examination results of all these students," he said.
