Fateh maidan club didn't remit taxes to the Telangana government

Whenever members demanded an election the committee got it stayed.

Hyderabad: Fateh Maidan Club members alleged that the club committee which collected service tax and other taxes from the 3,850 members of the club, did not remit it to the government. Some members approached the court and cases were registered at the Saifabad police station. But there was no police action.

The members stated that the club house committee headed by J. Prithvi Raj Reddy, the chairman, S. Ramana Rao and Kishan Sharma, were holding charge since eight years, breaking the club’s memorandum of articles which mandates elections every year. Whenever members demanded an election the committee got it stayed.

“Around Rs 1.5 crore service tax collected from members from 2010-11 to 2015-16 was not remitted to the department due to which the club was raided,” Mr Srinivas Reddy, a retired police officer said. They alleged that there was no audit in the club since seven years. Some members approached court and it directed the police to register a case.

“So far three cases have been registered. One case as per the court order issued on May 19 is yet to be registered. But there is no action by the police and this is helping them,” another member Satish Agarwal said adding that the next election has to be conducted as per court order on May 29. Saifabad police said they are investigating.
