Bhopal: A key accused in Vyapam scandal, a self-styled god man and an ex-RSS leader have figured in the list of 40 star campaigners of Congress declared for Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.

Taking Congress men by surprise, the party declared Gulab Singh Kirar, one of the key accused in Vyapam scandal involving corruptions in admissions in MBBS courses in various medical colleges in MP, as one of its star campaigners for the party in the four-phase Lok Sabha elections in the state, scheduled to be held during April 29-May 19.

Kirar joined Congress four months ago. His admission in the party was opposed tooth and nail then by a section of Congress here because of his alleged involvement in the infamous Vyapam scam.

Congress however tried to play down the issue saying that he was given a clean chit by the court in the case.

The party’s decision to declare gadget-savvy ‘seer’ Namdevdas Tyagi who loves to address himself as Compute Baba, as one of its star campaigners has also caused a flutter in Congress circle here.

Computer Baba along with four other religious gurus was accorded status of minister of state during the previous Shivraj Singh Chouhan, leading to an uproar in the country then.
