Rajahmundry: Civic official gives tips to get relief from sun stroke

People are advised to wear light cotton dress and use a cap or a hand-kerchief to cover the head while moving out.

Rajahmundry: As the day temperatures are expected to soar further as per the forecast from India Meteorological Department, municipal corporation authorities have come up with several health tips to help people to get relief from the sweltering heat in the city.

Municipal health officer Dr M.V.R. Murthy in a release issued here on Wednesday advised the people to wear light cotton dress and use a cap or a hand-kerchief to cover the head while moving out braving the hot sun.

He asked the people to consume butter milk added with salt, glucose water and ORS on a regular basis.

In the event of anyone suffering sun stroke, the MHO asked the people to move such person to a cool area immediately and apply wet cloth all over the body to cool it and consult a doctor for further medical assistance.

He asked the people to enhance the intake of water during the day and asked them to consume lemon juice or tender coconut water also to beat the summer heat.

The MHO called upon the people to avoid moving out between 10.00 am 3.00 pm in a day as the temperature used to be very high at that time of late and asked the people to immediately shift a person who suffered sun stroke before he or she becomes unconscious so that, the doctor will provide the requisite medical treatment to help him overcome the health problem.

He also advised the people to defer travel plans during day time so that they may not be exposed to sweltering heat and asked the people to following the health tips given to get relief from sun stroke.
