Telangana: Baahubali-2 gets screening relaxation

Telangana State turns down request for increasing prices of tickets for the film.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has allowed exhibitors of the film Baahubali-2 to screen five shows per day on weekends and Monday. Accordingly, five shows will be screened in all theatres on Saturday, Sunday and Monday after the film releases on April 28. There will be a special morning show at 8 am.

The government is willing to extend the relaxation to more weekends if the exhibitors so desire.Film producer Prasad Devineni met cinematography minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav at the Secretariat on Monday and sought permission for the extra screenings. The AP government has allowed five shows for ten days from April 28.

The TS government has, however, turned down the request for increasing the price of tickets for the film. The producer sought these exemptions on the grounds that the film was expensive to make. Minister Talasani said the government would issue an order permitting the extra screenings.

He said Baahubali-2 has brought laurels not only to the Telugu cinema industry but also to the Indian film industry. “Baahubali is not a routine kind of film. Such films come once in a lifetime. We should feel proud that such a great film was made by the Telugu film industry. It deserves all kinds of support from the government, film industry and people,” Mr Yadav said.
