Malappuram: Despite a strong police presence, the unrest continued unabated in Tanur on Sunday. In a recent incident, unidentified miscreants set ablaze two vehicles in Ozhur, seven kilometres from the coastal area.
A scooter owned by K.P. Vishwanath parked at the porch of his house in Kuruvattassery and a car belonging to Mukattil Shefeek which was in a secluded place were gutted completely in the fire.
The incident happened early Sunday around 1 am. The house of Mr Vishwanath was also partially damaged. The police, who registered a case, said forensic experts would soon visit the sites and collect evidence.
Meanwhile, opposition leader V.S. Achuthanandan visited the coastal areas on Sunday as he reached here for the LDF convention. Mr Achuthanandan blamed the Muslim League for the attacks, including on the party-backed candidate Abdurahman.
