Bengaluru: A busy Sunday for firefighters
Bengaluru: Firefighters had a busy Sunday after several minor fires were reported across the city. An agarbathi godown, a furniture shop and three vehicles, including two bikes, were gutted in accidental fires.
Residents of Pillappa Block in Srirampura woke up to a thick smoke after an agarbathi godown belonging to Pushpanjali Agarbathi Factories caught fire. The residents alerted the fire control room, which rushed a fire tender to the spot and the fire was put out.
Though no casualties were reported, goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted, a senior police officer said, adding that they have taken up a case to ascertain the cause of fire. A furniture shop on Kamaraj Road on Commercial Street was gutted in the early hours of Sunday.
Passersby noticed thick smoke billowing out of the shop on the ground floor of a commercial complex and alerted the fire control room. Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was contained after a three-hour operation.The Commercial street police rushed to the spot and registered a case.
A four-wheeler and two bikes were gutted when an electrical transformer on the roadside caught fire in Ranasinghpete in Cottonpet on Sunday morning.The fire was noticed by the residents, who woke up after a blast, around 4 am. Firefighters rushed to the spot and put out the fire.
