Now, CPM dead sure of realising bypass project
KANNUR: CPM erected 'Kaval Pura' in the paddy field of Keezhattoor here on Saturday symbolising the watch-house (Kaval Pura) to check outsiders derailing development activities. Speaking at a public meeting in Taliparamba, state secretariat member M.V. Govindan asserted that bypass would come there. "Whoever opposes, the bypass will come here. The government promises to widen roads to ease the traffic congestion throughout the state," he said. However, he added that the party is not adamant to have the bypass through the paddy field. "Some injury will happen in the course of development. The attempt is to lessen it," he said.
District secretary P. Jayarajan ridiculed CPI as the ally which enjoys all the comforts of power but disowns at crucial moments. "We all have a cat at the house which eats the most edible part of fish and then jump on the sofa and make scratches. Some are like that," he said without naming. Before the march, CPM workers put boards in the field of Keezhattoor each in the names of those who were ready to leave their land for NH bypass.
The proposed NH alignment was also marked using red ribbons and decorations. Scores of people participated in the march from Keezhattoor to Taliparamba. The 'Kerala to Keezhattoor' rally, being organised by various political and environmental groups in support of Vayalkilikal against the bypass will take place Sunday at 2 pm.
