Hyderabad: Missing sub-inspector returns after 3 days
Hyderabad: The mystery of missing sub-inspector P. Nagaraju from Neredmet police station has come to an end after he returned home safely. The SI had gone missing 3 days ago. His mobile phone was also switched off and this caused his family members and superiors to be concerned.
Though he has now reached home, officials claim that they had not been notified of his return as he has not reported for duty yet.
An internal inquiry about the cause of his disappearance is under way. It has been found that he had been reproached recently by higher officials for the increasing number of unsolved pending cases entrusted to him.
According to sources, it was after this incident that, unable to handle the pressures of his work, that the S-I went missing. Nagaraju had gone to a friend’s house for the past few days as he felt himself incapable of handling the mounting number of cases.
This event has once again brought into light the plight of personnel in the police department when it comes to handling stress-related issues.
In February, circle inspector of Nalgonda II town also walked out of the police station due to the high-pressure nat-ure of work, but returned the next day. He had been investigating the high-profile murder case of Congress leader Boddupally Srinivas.
Sources state that P. Nagaraju, a 2014 batch sub-inspector, had completed his probation as S-I at the Neredmet police station and was afterwards posted at the same station.
Official sources from the Rachakonda commissionerate have confirmed on Nagaraju’s transfer to a different police station, though he had not accepted the transfer.
Since he has not yet reported for duty or communicated with the department in any way, officials may take disciplinary action in the matter.
