Hyderabad: 32 year old businessman held for molesting woman on bus
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police on Saturday arrested a 32-year-old businessman who had allegedly molested a fellow woman passenger, an MBA student, who was travelling in the same bus. It was a Hyderabad-bound private bus.
The suspect identified as Manne Ravi Chandra belongs to Guntur district in AP and is currently based at Gachibowli, in the city, said the police.
According to the police, the victim is a student pursuing her MBA at a private college in Shankarpally. She and her fiancé were travelling to Hyderabad by the Morning Star Travels bus service.
DCP, LB Nagar, M. Venkateswar Rao said that as it neared night time, all the passengers in the bus went to sleep in their cabins.
At around 4 am, while she was fast asleep, the suspect Ravichandra, who had booked the adjoining cabin, approached her and started touching her inappropriately.
“The startled victim woke up suddenly due to his advances and raised an alarm. He then moved back to his cabin,” the DCP said.
She and her fiancé alerted the bus driver and the other passengers. They later approached Hayathnagar police station and lodged a complaint against the suspect.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under the charge of outraging the modesty of a woman, and arrested Ravichandra.
