TTV Dhinakaran fails to appear in court

The ACCM directed Dhinakaran to appear before the court on Friday.

Chennai: The AIADMK Deputy General Secretary and party's RK Nagar Assembly by-poll candidate failed to appear before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (EO-II) court, Egmore at Allikulam on Friday relating to the hearing on a FERA case registered against him by Enforcement Directorate. On March 17, Dhinakaran appeared before the ACMM (EO-II) court and his counsel submitted that they would file an appeal before the Supreme Court against the Madras High court order, which dismissed the trial court order discharging him from the FERA case. On March 22, reversing his stand, Dhinakaran's counsel informed the ACMM that they would now file a recall petition in the Madras high court. Hence, they sought adjournment of trial proceedings. The ACCM directed Dhinakaran to appear before the court on Friday.

When the matter came up for hearing on Friday morning before ACMM (EO-II) S. Malarmathy, Dhinakaran's counsel filed petitions seeking to dispense with his personal appearance and to adjourn the trial until the by-poll gets over. When the ACMM directed his counsel to commence the arguments, they sought to adjourn the matter stating that senior advocates were engaged in election related work. Later, ACMM adjourned the matter to Monday.
