TSR writes to PM on hate crime against Indians in US

Mr Reddy, on Friday, wrote to the Prime Minister after reports that a Telugu woman and her son were found dead at their home in New Jersey.

Visakhapatnam: Rajya Sabha member T. Subbarami Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and try to rein in the number of hate crimes against Indians in the US.

Mr Reddy, on Friday, wrote to the Prime Minister after reports that a Telugu woman and her son were found dead at their home in New Jersey. “Again another shocking news came th-at on March 23, 2017 ni-ght, the wife of a softwa-re engineer in New Jersey, USA, and his son were killed. On March 24, 2017 morning, I raised the issue in Rajya Sabha again and said, Indian nationals will be shivering to live in USA, if such incidents continue and requested the Government to respond and to take immediate action, at the Prime Minister’s level. In response to that, Mukthar Abbas Naqvi, minister of state for Parliamentary Affa-irs, assured the House that they will take all action. However, I am writing this personal letter to bring to your notice and request your kind intervention to make efforts with the US President. You being dynamic and most popular leader, it will be very important, Sir, your action will give protection to Indian Nationals living in the USA,” said Mr Reddy in the letter.
