Tamil Nadu: Lab assistants' test results out after 2 years

The department of school education has released the test results on Friday.

CHENNAI: Ending a two-year wait for over eight lakh candidates who appeared for the written test for lab assistants, the department of school education has released the test results on Friday. The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) had conducted the test for recruiting 4,362 lab assistants for government schools on May 30, 2015. The DGE has reportedly submitted the results to the government within a month of conducting the exam. Meanwhile, the Madras HC has ordered to select the candidates based on the marks scored in written examination. After the order, the recruitment process was put on the back burner and the test results were kept in abeyance. After a long gap of nearly 22 months, the results were released on Friday.

In a release, the director of school education said, "In each district, as per the existing vacancies, the candidates will be called for the certificate verification in 1:5 ratio. The list of candidates who are eligible for certificate verification will be released by the Chief Educational Officers." The certificate verification will be held on April 9, 10 and 11. "Along with the marks scored in the written test, the candidates will be given additional marks according to their seniority in employment exchange (maximum 10 marks), additional educational qualification (maximum of 5 marks) and previous experience (2 marks)," the release said. The merit list will be prepared based on the marks scored by the candidates. The selected candidates will get the appointment orders in the counselling.
