MALAPPURAM: The fire and safety personnel unearthed massive fire security violations in the paint godown that caught fire at Edavanna on Saturday.
The paint dealer has taken no adequate safety measures in tune with the fire and safety norms to stock the paint thinner in huge quantity in underground tanks.
Such flammable material should not be kept so carelessly in such places with so many houses nearby, said an official.
Moreover, the firm has no license from the local body.
The thinner godown was functioning misleading the local people as paint godown.
The dealer has no permission to store the material in underground tanks. The crops in nearby farms were destroyed as the underground tanks continued exploding for many hours.
However, fire and safety officials started preparing a list of such godowns that operate without any safety measures in the district.
District administration also directed the fire and safety department to submit a report as soon as possible.
