Biffes witnesses serpentine lines and scramble for bunch of films
Bengaluru: The Bangalore International Film Festival witnessed huge rush on Sunday with a repeated footfall of around 20,000.
Artistic Director of 11th Biffes 2019 N. Vidyashankar told Deccan Chronicle, “We have already screened all major films at least once in the first three days and their repeats will happen in the next few days. People are increasingly enthusiastic about viewing good movies, knowing about their making, techniques involved in directing, business of movie making, and also about designing special effects. Therefore not just movies, all other events we conducted around the fest have been attended by a large audience.”
There were serpentine lines and scramble for a bunch of movies, including Capernaum, Roma and The Guilty.
“Even when the capacity of a screen is below 400, there are over 1,000 people waiting in line for certain popular movies,” said a volunteer.
Nagathihalli Chandrashekar led an interactive session with the cast and crew of KGF success. The KGF team comprising its director Ravi Barasur, art director Shivakumar and actor Ram who played the character Garuda were part of the event.
“It is a period movie and therefore challenges were plenty and we had to train the entire crew in a classroom for two years,” said the director of KGF. Three Indian women directors Sangeeta Datta (Bird of Dusk), Farha Khatun (The Jungle Man.... Loiya) and Priya Thuvassery (Coral Woman) had another session to talk about their movies and their making. Director Sourav Sarangi was also part of the discussion with his Char- No Man’s Island.
