Krishna villages to get drinking water connections
Vijayawada: Within the next eight months, every house in Krishna district is going to get a Drinking water connection. The state government would implement the pilot project, spending Rs 860 crore, in Krishna district. Nearly 7 lakh families will get water connection and there will be efforts to eradicate the fluoride problem too. Tribal areas, SC, BC colonies will be given priority in execution of the project.
Many villages in Krishna district do not have drinking water supply. The state government is planning to give drinking water connection to every home in every village. The pilot project in Krishna district will take off in April when tenders will be finalised. In 6-8 months, the work will be completed, according to the district administration. The process of execution has a few guidelines. The water tanks will be constructed and the pipelines will be laid in villages giving connection to every house free of cost.
Collector B. Lakshmikantham told DC "This is a project of the state government which would be aided by the Centre, under different schemes. Already we had a survey of the project. Everything is ready, and in April, the tenders will be finalized. I am happy that Krishna district has been chosen for the project."
