HYDERABAD: A physical education teacher of a private school in Chaitanyapuri has been arrested for beating two Class VI students when they were found speaking to other students in the classroom. “The teacher also confined one of the students in the classroom till late evening,” the boys said. Chaitanyapuri Police arrested the teacher M. Satish on Saturday.
G. Saikiran, studying in Class VI at Genius Grammar School in Chaitanyapuri was talking to one of his friends Netaji, in the absence of a teacher in the class on Saturday. Satish, who was on rounds, allegedly barged into the classroom and caught both the kids talking. He then allegedly pulled them out and beat them severely. Saikiran sustained severe injuries, leaving bruises on both his arms and thighs.
Saikiran told that the teacher snatched his identity card from him and confined him in the classroom till 6 p.m., even after all students left the school. “After being informed by my sister, when my father came to the school, he let me out. I and my friend were beaten up severely,” the boy said. After going home, Saikiran’s mother noticed bruises on the boy’s body and informed his father.
Based on a complaint from his father G. Haribabu, police registered a case against M. Satish, 29, on charges of causing hurt under Juvenile Justice Act.
SI G. Eroji of Chaitanyapuri police station said that the boy was sent for medical examination and the report is awaited. “The teacher was arrested, produced before the court and sent to remand on Saturday,” the SI said. The teacher, however, told police that he beat the kid after he passed vulgar comments on him.
