Speeding van kills anganwadi teacher in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: An Anganwadi teacher was killed when a van hit her at Bahadurpura on Wednesday. The teacher, G. Veeramani, 38, was walking along the road when the van driver lost control and hit her.
The victim died on the spot. Veeramani, who was a teacher at an Anganwadi at Chintalmet, was a resident of Vambay colony in Mailardevpally.
Police said Veeramani and her friend Pentamma got down from a bus. “The van driver took the free left towards Kishanbagh. As he did not reduce speed while taking the turn he lost control. The van ran over the woman,” said a cop.
The public caught the van driver and handed him over. The police seized the van. A case under Section 304 A was booked against the driver.
