Railway users demand new trains, speeding up of infrastructure projects

At the (DRUCC) meeting that was conducted by Chennai division, they demanded new trains to be introduced in Southern railway.

Chennai: Railway users and passengers forums from different parts of Tamil Nadu have demanded the railway ministry to introduce new trains and speed up the infrastructure projects pending for the last five years.

At the Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting that was conducted by Chennai division, they demanded new trains to be introduced in Southern railway, stoppage of long distance trains and issues such as clean toilets and water availability in coaches.

“The railways have already allocated Rs 30 crore towards building toilet facilities and other basic amenities such as rest rooms and foot-over bridges. Two escalators at Chetpet railway station and a foot-over bridge at Fort station have already been sanctioned under this,” said a senior official in the commercial department.
