Modi greets CM Jayalalithaa on her 68th birthday

Political leaders from all over country extend greetings.

Chennai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and political leaders from different parts of the country greeted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa who turned 68 on Wednesday.

Governor K. Rosaiah and her Andhra Pradesh counterpart Chandrababu Naidu also extended their greetings.

Modi tweeted, “Birthday wishes to Jayalalithaa ji. May Almighty bless her with a long life, filled with good health”.

“I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to you on your birthday. Your rich acumen, wisdom, dynamism and affection towards the people have made Tamil Nadu a model state for people’s welfare projects”, governor K. Rosaiah said in a statement heaping praises on Ms Jayalalithaa.

“I wish you a long, happy and healthy life in your mission to steer Tamil Nadu to greater heights,” Rosaiah added. A statement from the secretariat said Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu also wished her over phone. TRS MP from Nizamabad and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekar Rao’s daughter, Kalvakuntla Kavitha, US Consul General in Chennai, Philip A Min, and Arcot Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali were among those who greeted the AIADMK leader.

Earlier in the day, AIADMK ministers conducted special poojas in temples and organised, ‘annadanam’.

At party headquarters the ministers cut and shared a 68 kg cake with party workers marking the party general secretary’s birthday.

The popular Amma Unavagam (subsidised canteens) under corporation of Chennai also distributed free food for people and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department also launched a statewide tree sapling planting covering 6,868 temples.
