AIADMK, DMK indulge in mudslinging: Anbumani Ramadoss
Chennai: PMK’s chief ministerial candidate Dr Anbumani Ramadoss on Wednesday accused DMK and AIADMK of indulging in mudslinging against each other with former releasing an hard hitting advertisement for second consecutive day while the ruling party’s supporters responded with stinging memes on social media.
After releasing a music CD containing six election campaign songs here, Dr Anbumani said that DMK had released its second advertisement hitting out at AIADMK government alleging illegal sand mining, Aavin milk scam and unemployment.
“DMK is trying to pretend as if they had done nothing wrong. Both the Dravidian parties are responsible for present state of affairs in state. Whether it is illegal sand mining or Aavin milk scam, both the parties are hand in glove to it,” he said.
After Chief Minister Jayalalithaa nationalised river sand mining in 2003, the DMK that came to power subsequently followed the same policy, he said, noting that in both their tenures, the same contractor was allowed to operate the mines.
“A unit of sand procured at Rs 674 was sold to consumers at a price of Rs 7,000,” he pointed out. As far as Aavin milk scam is concerned, he said that CBCID police arrested Vaidyanathan, whose vehicle was hired for transport of milk from Tiruvannamalai to Madhavaram, after scam came to light.
Mr Vaidyanathan got a contract for transporting milk during the AIADMK regime in 2001-06 for 10 vehicles, it was later expanded to 104 vehicles in DMK rule, he said, added that in each vehicle, they will pilfer out 2,000 litres of milk and replaces it with water.
Alleging that both the parties are responsible for the huge increase in unemployment, PMK leader said that number of unemployment persons had gone up from 41.87 lakh in 2006 to 73.95 lakh in 2011 during the previous DMK regime and it had further increased to 86 lakh in the present AIADMK government.
“People are well aware that both the parties that ruled alternatively for the past five decades were responsible for all the problems faced by them. They will reject them in this election,” he said.
