VIJAYAWADA: AP Planning Board vice-chairman and MLA Malladi Vishnu on Tuesday reiterated that Jagan Mohan Reddy government is giving top priority to development of government educational institutions. For the purpose, it has allotted ₹53,000 crore to education in AP.

Speaking at a function organised to launch construction of a new building for the historical SRR & CVR Government College in Vijayawada, he lauded the college for producing many great leaders of the state. “As such, the Jagan government is committed to developing this historical college,” he underlined.

Vishnu said there will be no compromise in providing better facilities to students, like fresh water facility, toilets, lights, fans, benches and furniture. He pointed out that during his tenure as MLA in the past, the boundary wall of the college had been constructed. “It is gratifying for me to now start construction of the new building with funds of ₹2.32 crore,” he stated.

The ruling party MLA criticised the previous government for letting schools remain in a dilapidated condition, when no one could say when they will collapse. “But today, they are all flourishing with various facilities,” he remarked.

Vishnu said AP is way ahead in the country in implementation of the new education policy. He underlined that reforms brought in by Jagan Mohan Reddy in the field of education have become a benchmark for the country.
