Small issues solved, government safe: Siddaramaiah
Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah claimed here on Thursday that the “small problems” of Congress legislators had been sorted out and there was no threat to the government from the BJP.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the coordination committee here, he said three of the four legislators, who had stayed away from the Congress Legislator Party meeting last week, had replied to the show cause notice issued to them. Only Mr Umesh Jadhav had still to reply.
Revealing that the coordination committee had discussed the problems in making nominations to boards and corporations, he said that some of the names in the list sent by the Congress were not cleared, including the appointment of Dr Sudhakar as chairman of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board.
“Other MLAs have minor problems, which will be looked into,” he assured, adding that the meeting also discussed reservation in promotions and it was decided to issue the necessary order after consulting the advocate general.
Asked about Kampli MLA, J N Ganesh, attacking his fellow legislator, Anand Singh, Mr Siddaramaiah said it did not come up at the meeting.
“The government has taken action against him through the police and the party has suspended him pending an inquiry. I have no differences of opinion with anyone in the party, including Mr D K Shivakumar. There is no question of shielding anyone. No one is above the law and as law makers, we cannot go against it,” he said.
On seat sharing between the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) for the coming Lok Sabha elections, Mr Siddaramaiah said leaders of both parties in the coalition government, including Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda would meet again in the next three days to discuss it.
The meeting also deliberated drought management and all four teams assessing it had been asked to submit their reports before the budget session, he added.
