Balanagar flyover by September end

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has acquired over 80 plots and now land remains to be acquired in Gramakantam.

Hyderabad: Work on the flyover from the Balanagar Crossroads to the Narsapur Crossroads has resumed after many hurdles and the work is likely to end by September.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority has acquired over 80 plots and now land remains to be acquired in Gramakantam. Commuters travelling on the stretch will have to bear with traffic snarls till September. Municipal officials said 15 out of 23 piers had already been grounded. That apart, the HMDA has already completed 80 per cent of the road-widening work.

The HMDA will soon start segmentation work and the project will be completed by September. An official said the road will open to commuters by the first week of October.

A senior GHMC official said the corporation had acquired over 250 of 357 plots and secured consent for them. the HMDA has also handed over control of 82 government plots to private persons.

Besides, the HMDA has given consent to erect eight piers. Widening of road from 80-100ft to 150-200 ft has already begun and the around 2-km stretch has been barricaded. Asked about traffic snarls, he said that since the project has been taken up to help road-users, they were remaining patient until road-widening and erection of piers is completed.
