All universities to have common fee structure: GT Devegowda
Bengaluru: All universities across the state will have a standardised fee and admission system from the coming academic year.
Higher education minister, G.T. Devegowda told reporters here on Thursday that the government would appoint an expert committee next month to look into the uniform calendar covering fee, admissions, exams and evaluation and implement it in all universities based on its report.
Noting that currently each university had its own fee structure and examination procedure , the minister explained the higher education department had decided to bring in uniformity through online procedures.
In another far reaching move, all universities have been instructed to adopt five villages each and create awareness among their people about the importance of education and skill development. Agriculture and horticulture universities will be expected to train villagers in becoming self- employed.
The government had also decided to establish skill development centres and placement cells in all universities to train job seekers and provide job opportunities to the poor, the minister revealed.
He assured that teaching and non- teaching posts would be filled in colleges and universities in a phased manned. “Fifty per cent of the posts will be reserved for guest lecturers,” he added.
