Heavy security for Republic Day Parade tomorrow in Bengaluru

The city police have made elaborate security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations on Friday.

Bengaluru: The city police have made elaborate security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations on Friday and deployed 75 police personnel on the ground and installed over 50 CCTV cameras around the Manekshaw Parade Ground on MG Road.

City Police Commissioner T. Suneel Kumar said that nine DCPs, 16 ACPs, 51 police inspectors, 92 sub-inspectors, 16 women sub-inspectors, 77 assistant sub-inspectors, 535 head constables and 126 policemen in mufti will be on security duty that day.

He requested the public to cooperate with the police and not to bring any prohibited items, like water bottles, balloons, umbrellas, video cameras, etc, to the ground. Hotels, lodges and other tourist places in the city will be under watch and suspicious persons will be interrogated, he said.

The traffic arrangements
Invitees with Yellow car passes have to come on to Cubbon Road and enter Gate No.1 facing the northern side of the Parade Ground and park their vehicles on the western side of the ground.

Invitees with White car passes and secretaries to the government, military officers, police officers, etc., have to use Gate No. 2 through Cubbon Road and park their vehicles on Western side of the ground.

Invitees with Pink passes should park their vehicles on the Main Guard Cross Road near Safina Plaza, Kamaraja Road, on both sides near Army Public School, Kamaraja Road near RSI Gate (Northern Side) and enter Parade ground through Gate No. 3 by walk. All Green car pass holders have to park their vehicles at the parking lot in Shivajinagar Bus Stand and enter the parade ground through Gate No. 4 & 5 by walk.

All media vehicles, OBVans, DCP and above rank officers and senior officers from other departments should enter through Gate No.3 and park their vehicles on the eastern side of the parade ground. Vehicles carrying participants of the parade and cultural events should drop them near Gate No. 1 and park their vehicles on northern side of M.G. Road from Anil Kumble circle to the Metro station. Emergency vehicles, like ambulances, fire tender, water tanker, KSRP, CRT, BBMP, PWD

Vehicles should enter from Gate No.1 on Cubbon Road and park their vehicles behind the Fort Wall (Southern Side). Parking for two-wheelers has been provided on Kamaraja Road near RSI Gate, in front of the Army Public School, Main Guard Cross Road and near Safina Plaza. The visitors should enter through Gate No. 4 & 5 on Kamaraja Road by walk.

Those who do not have car passes can park their vehicles at Shivajinagar BMTC 1st Floor parking lot and enter parade ground through Gate No. 4 & 5 by walk. Traffic will be diverted from 8.30 am to 10.30 am from BRV Junction to Kamaraj Road Junction (both directions) on Cubbon Road.

Due to security reasons, all invitees and members of the public, who are attending the parade, are requested not to bring their mobile phones, helmets cameras, radios, umbrellas and any other items to the parade ground. People carrying such articles will not be permitted inside. All should be seated before 8.30 am.
