To stop rail mishaps, govt launches safety campaigns with inputs from Korea, Japan

Addressing the media, Railway Board Member Mohammad Jamshed said the cases of derailment of trains are being investigated.

New Delhi: Hinting at the possibility of sabotage in the recent spate of train derailments, Railway Board Member (Traffic) Mohammad Jamshed on Wednesday said intensive safety campaigns have been launched with inputs of teams from Japan and Korea to stop such incidents.

Addressing the media, Jamshed said the cases of derailment of trains are being investigated.

"We have launched safety campaign. We have also launched intensive measures and we are also looking for further improvement. Inputs of teams from Japan and Korea are being taken into consideration. We take safety and security of the railways very seriously. Our efforts are very sincere and we are working day and night on it," he said the media.

"We are putting our best efforts to improve the wheel-rail interaction which is important in cases of derailment," the Railway Board Member said, adding derailments happen due to various reasons including rail fractures and because of issues related to rolling stock and track maintenance.

"As far as safety funds are concerned, safety funds have been provided adequately and this should not be confused with investments," he added.
