Accusing the police of violating human rights and attacking students, he wanted a judicial probe into police action on protesters.

Chennai: Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin on Tuesday charged CoP S.George with depicting students and youth who fought for Tamil culture as anti-nationals and demanded his transfer.

Accusing the police of violating human rights and attacking students, he wanted a judicial probe into police action on protesters. He said the police attacks were intended to divert the attention from the historic victory of students who had won the cultural rights of Tamils.

Stalin came down heavily on accusations of infiltration of 'anti-national' and anti-socials' into the protest and asked how did the police guarding the venue for seven days allow such infiltration. He also asked why the police did not identify the infiltrators when they joined the protests and asked what the intelligence of city police was doing till then.

Stalin also demanded the transfer of DGP (Intelligence) and said the CCTV camera clippings at the places where autorickshaws were burnt, besides the Marina beach and Ice House should be protected.

There was no necessity to disperse the gathering sitting peacefully at Marina, Stalin said added that negotiations could have been held after passing the Bill to amend the PCA Act in the Assembly.

DMDK leader Vijayakanth said protesters sought time till the Assembly passed the Bill to allow jallikattu, but the police resorted to attacks on protesters without giving time. He also demanded the dismissal of police officials who resorted to lathi charge against the protesters.

PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss too demanded a judicial probe into the police action on jallikattu proteststers at Marina and Alanganallur. He alleged that parties which tried to take the protests into their hands and failed in their mission indulged in violence and diverted the protests.
