Karnataka police on their toes for R-Day
Bengaluru: The city police have made elaborate security arrangements across the city in view of the Republic Day. Over 1,500 policemen will be deputed at Field Marshal Manekshaw Parade Ground on Cubbon Road, where the Republic Day ceremonial parade will be held on Thursday.
City Police Commissioner Praveen Sood said that though there was no specific alert from any intelligence agencies, foolproof security arrangements has been done. “At the parade ground, around 1,500 policemen are deputed under the supervision of nine DCPs, 16 ACPs, 48 inspectors, 101 sub inspectors and 13 woman sub inspectors. In addition, platoons of KSRP and CAR will be deputed. Also, Garuda Commando Force will be stationed at the venue. To monitor the situation, around 50 security cameras are installed.”
Meanwhile, the security in other important places in the city has been stepped up. “We have installed 150 security cameras at various locations to keep tab on any suspicious activity. As many as 9,472 policemen will be deployed for security across the city,” Sood added.
As a precautionary step, the Commissioner has also prohibited flying of all unmanned aerial objects including drones, balloons, unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned aircraft systems within the jurisdiction of Bengaluru City Police Commissionerate. The prohibitory orders will be in effect from Tuesday till Thursday.
