Bengaluru: Members of the BBMP Taxation and Finance committee, who paid surprise visits to parking spaces at K.R/ Market complex, Jayanagar Shopping Complex and J C Road multi-level parking, were in for a surprise as the BBMP is incurring huge losses in its rightful revenue.
The team, headed by committee chairman Gunashekar, first visited K.R. Market complex, where arrangements had been made for parking at the entrance of the complex illegally.
Also the designated basement area of the market complex was predominantly turned into a place to store goods and other scrapped vehicles. Mr Gunashekar directed the concerned BBMP officials to take necessary action.
Though the market complex at Jayanagar 4th Block was completed two year ago, there is still no system in place for visitors to park their vehicles. Mr Gunashekar said, “The issue will be discussed with the officials so that a separate space is designated for parking of vehicles.”
The committee also found that no action has been initiated against the contractor of JC Road multi-level parking, who was found violating the tender norms by renting out the space for commercial activities. Mr Gunashekar said that he has directed the concerned officials to take action.
