Kerala film fraternity holds march
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actors, directors, literary personalities and people from all walks of life in Kerala on Monday took out a long march against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Kochi. The protesters, carrying placards and banners, denouncing the CAA and NRC, walked 12 km from Rajendra Maidan to Fort Kochi.
Directors Kamal, Ashik Abu, actors Nimisha Sajayan, Shane Nigam, Rima Kallingal and cinematographer Venu were among those participated in the long march. However, superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal snubbed the protest. Both have drawn flak from various quarters and on social media for keeping silent on the issue. Meanwhile, three migrant workers hailing from West Bengal were attacked allegedly by BJP supporters for taking part in an anti-CAA agitation in Nadapuram in Kozhikode district on Sunday.
The three persons who belong to Murshidabad were assaulted after they came back from a protest march organised in Nadapuram. One of the workers sustained head injuries in the incident.
