Special mechanism to filter beneficiaries
Hyderabad: The government has decided to set up a special mechanism to prevent duplication and double entries of beneficiaries of 2BHK units. This was important in view of the expected government order to pay Rs 5 lakh to land owners to build their own units.
Officials feared that some beneficiaries might avail the grant in their native place and apply for a 2BHK unit in the city. According to mayor Bonthu Rammohan, the government had decided to set up a special mechanism to identify beneficiaries and ask them to choose a 2BHK house or the Rs 5 lakh grant. He said that a GO would be released after finalising the mechanism.
He appealed to 2BHK beneficiaries in the city to apply afresh even though they had applied earlier in order avoid duplication. The format segregating 2BHK house beneficiaries and availing Rs 5 lakh grant will be released soon.
The fresh applications process may delay the project further. Hyderabad collector M. Raghunandan Rao asked beneficiaries not to approach the collectorate or mandal revenue offices to apply for 2BHK houses. They have to apply in MeeSeva centres which would be synchronised with the collectorates.
Asked about irregularities in the sanctioning of 2BHK houses for the urban poor, Mr Rao said that every beneficiary should provide Aadhaar card numbers while applying to prevent duplication.
Asked about the Rs 5 lakh grant for beneficiaries who own land, Mr Rao said that right now it was a TRS promise in the manifesto and would be considered only after releasing an official GO.
