Sanjeevaiah Park parking fee charged illegally
Hyderabad: The person who was collecting parking charges from vehicles parked at the lot opposite Sanjeevaiah Park was allegedly not authorised to do so. His contract with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authrority (HMDA) for the purpose had expired one year ago.
A complaint about the same was filed by one Sai Teja from the Forum Against Corruption with the Ramgopalpet police. Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Sai Teja said, “On Sunday morning we parked our vehicle at the parking lot and the person demanded Rs 20, which is against the rules mentioned in the contract.”
Mr Teja inquired into the matter and asked him to produce the copy of the HMDA order which authorised him to collect the parking fee. He failed to produce it, Mr Teja said.
“When we called the police, we came to know that his contract had expired in 2017,” said Mr Teja.
Another complaint was filed by Mr Vijay Gopal, also of the Forum Against Corruption, who asked what the HMDA was doing. “When his contract expired last year, how did the officials let him loot us for a year,” Mr Gopal said.
Mr Gopal alleged that the man was earning Rs 25,000 per month. In his complaint copy he stated that when he visited the Sanjeevaiah Park on Sunday at around 10.30 am, a person named K. Eshwar who claimed to have the contract charged him Rs 30 for parking his two-wheeler.
“When we asked for the document he failed to produce it. Following this, I filed a complaint with the Ramgopalpet police,” Mr Gopal said. The parking receipt booklets and other evidence were confiscated by a police patrol team.
