Bengaluru lights up for Christmas evening
Bengaluru: 'This the season to be jolly! Bengaluru is a festive riot of red and white - Christmas is truly here! Christmas trees tower outside churches, shopping malls and homes and the air is filled with the sound of carols.
The Central Business District (CBD) area in the city which is MG Road, Brigade Road, Commercial Street, Vital Mallya road and surrounding areas were crowded with shoppers. Jacob Peter, who owns a clothing showroom on Brigade road, said, "All the shopkeepers around this area wait for this time of the year, as the entire area gets decked up with colorful lights and people from every part of Bengaluru visit Brigade road and MG Road to shop for the festival."
"We prepare for the festival rush from October and ensure everything is in stock. No customer should go home disappointed. The mood is brilliant," he added.
Club have their own way of celebrating Christmas, James Lobo, a member of Catholic Club said, "We have various activities for the festival and New Year. Our entire family visits the club on Christmas and New Year, as it is the best way to socialize with some great food and wine."
Meanwhile, an official from Infant Jesus Church said, "At the strike on midnight at 12 am on December 25, we will place the infant Jesus in the crib and mark the celebration of Christmas and followed by mass in regional languages through the night and on Christmas. Many attend mass, donate sweets and clothes to the poor and this is a great way of celebrating the birthday of our Saviour." It is the same kind of celebration carried out in all other well known churches like St Mary's Basilica church, St Patricks Church, St Francis Xavier Church and many more.
