Karnataka: Apply for Sakrama by January 21, says Kagodu Thimmappa
Bengaluru: Close on the heels of the High Court upholding the state government’s Akrama-Sakrama scheme, Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa on Friday announced that the deadline to file applications under this scheme was January 21.
He also declared that the state government had already decided to decrease the regularisation fees by 50 per cent, which will be ratified during next cabinet meeting.
Mr Thimmappa told reporters here that the state government had already received 20 lakh applications under this scheme and with the extension of deadline till January 21, the state government is expecting another 20 lakh applications, taking the total tally to 40 lakh.
He added that the state government would reduce fine amount by 50 per cent from existing Rs 6,000 for houses that were built under 4,000 sq. ft.
The revenue minister claimed that he had already directed village accountants and Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs) to take steps to distribute Akrama-Sakrama applications in their respective jurisdiction on a priority basis.
