Bengaluru to have 10 zero tolerance traffic junctions

Erring motorists would invite severe action.

Bengaluru: Traffic police have decided to act tough against violators and from January 1 onwards 10 junctions in the city will be declared as ‘zero tolerance’ spots. Erring motorists would invite severe action.

Deputy Commissioner of Police traffic (East) Abhishek Goyal has declared Sadashivanagar police station, Shivanananda, N.R. Junciton, Cauvery Arts and Crafts, Urvashi, K.R. Road/Cubbon Road, Trinity Road, Old Madras Road, Sony World and ISRO junction as zero tolerance spots.

A team comprising an inspector, an assistant sub inspector and a constable will be deputed in two shifts at these spots.

The inspector will be in touch with the Traffic Management Centre (TMC) to check for violations through the CCTV for effective enforcement.
Apart from enforcement, the team will also man the traffic if it goes out of control, the official release said.

Inspectors under whose jurisdiction these junctions fall are expected to furnish a list of police personnel posted on daily basis and the list of violations and penalty levied, to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).
