Hyderabad: No end to Breaking of traffic rules
Hyderabad: It is a usual sight on the roads. Signal-jumping and STOP line-crossing are the favourite pastimes of drivers in the twin cities.
Drivers and riders forget the rules and commit these offences with impunity and alarming regularity.
There are 30,038 registered cases of signal-jumping till 2019 October and 70,414. STOP line-crossing cases booked till October 2019. These cases might go up by another 20% to 25% in the last quarter of this year. In 2018, signal-jumping cases stood at 18525 and STOP line-crossing cases stood at 141533.
“Our CCTV cameras are fixed at all junctions. Based on that TV footage we issue challans. In cases of signal-jumping, our posted officer conveys the message through the wireless, We see to it that the offender is caught at the next signal,” a senior traffic official said.
“Hyderabad City Police is trying to educate its citizens in traffic rules and traffic safety, we are working to provide a better road experience to the commuters,” said another traffic official.
